Overview

A personal game project in active development.

Chaos Island is an independently directed top-down survival RPG prototype. The current public Windows download is a playable demonstration—not a commercially shipped or finished game.

The broader project is where I connect world composition to gameplay systems: inhabited areas, environmental regions, autonomous creatures, resource interactions, and combat all occupy the same persistent space.

My role

Design ownership with an AI-assisted implementation workflow.

I own the game concept, gameplay direction, world decisions, system specifications, testing, and iteration. I created most of the pixel art and assemble and evaluate the project directly in Godot.

Code implementation has been developed with Codex assistance from my written specifications, screenshots, testing observations, and requested corrections. I review the playable result and direct each subsequent change; I do not present the project as entirely hand-programmed by me.

The world

An inhabited space rather than an empty feature test.

The public itch.io screenshot shows an inhabited clearing, readable landmarks, animals, equipment feedback, and a lit gathering point inside the playable world.

Gameplay systems

Systems designed to create consequences across the world.

The project contains movement and exploration, resource gathering, inventory and equipment, farming, crafting and building, combat, campfires, a day–night cycle, boats, creatures, bees, slimes, neutral characters, and a Chief encounter.

Recruiter-facing emphasis stays on the connections: bees act autonomously and can be guided with flowers; creature pairs can settle near trees and reproduce; neutral characters can react to nearby threats; and campfires establish readable inhabited and safe spaces.

Public demo scope

What the current download actually promises.

The itch.io release is a 100 MB Windows prototype listed as a short, keyboard-and-mouse survival experience. Its public description identifies handcrafted islands, exploration, dynamic ecosystems, farming, crafting, and wildlife behavior.

Development-project systems such as the complete Chief encounter, boats, specialized traversal, broader building tools, and unfinished regional content are not advertised here as guaranteed demo encounters unless the public build description or future direct testing confirms them.

Development approach

Prototype the interaction, play it, then refine the surrounding space.

The Godot project contains a primary world scene with village, desert, bee, and boss-arena structures alongside reusable gameplay scripts. These are active prototype regions, not claimed as finished levels.

I test implemented features in context, capture problems, define the intended correction, and evaluate the next build. This makes the project evidence of design direction and technical prototyping while keeping its unfinished world-layout pass explicit.

Ownership boundary

Most art is mine; known placeholders are disclosed.

I created the current visual asset set except for temporary Codex-generated rope, female barbarian, seeds, bushes, fences, and fire assets. Those six placeholder categories are intended for replacement.

Screenshots demonstrate my game, system, and world-design decisions. They should not be read as a claim that every visible code implementation or temporary visual asset was produced without assistance.
